Our Mission

To provide the students and staff with a variety of appetizing and nutritious meals that provide 1/3 of the USDA’s Recommended Daily Allowances of important minerals and vitamins for a reasonable cost.

Facilities

Loveland Schools operate four kitchens and six dining rooms. We serve lunch to 4,000 students daily. In addition to lunch, we cater for district- sponsored events.

National School Lunch Program

Our district participates in the National School Lunch Program. Through this program, free or reduced-cost meals are available to children whose families meet certain income criteria. Applications are also available at all school offices. All application information is held in complete confidence.

Lunch Components

The school lunch must contribute at least one third of the nutrients a child needs for growth and health. The meals are planned to meet the guidelines established under the Child Nutrition Program of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. We use the Traditional Food Based plus Menu Planning Option

All school food products sold to children in grades 1-8 meet the nutritional guidelines of the School Lunch Program.

Children have the option of choosing three of the five meal components. The components are:

  • 2 oz. lean meat, cheese, 1 egg, ½ cup dry beans or 4 tbsp. peanut butter.
  • 3/4 cup fruits and/or vegetables.
  • 10 servings of grains/breads per week.
  • 8 oz. fluid milk. Choice of 1%, fat free, white or chocolate.
