Loveland LEGO Legends heads to State Tournament
The Loveland LEGO Legends is a team of 10 6th-9th graders competing in the international First LEGO League competition. They are headed to the state tournament on February 4-5, at Wright State University.
First promotes real science and technology learning and competition for middle school students.
For 5 long months the team has been working to build and program a robot to run a competitive obstacle course for The Game portion of the competition. The Project challenges the team to learn about food safety, select a food, identify food safety issues with that food, and create an innovative solution for the problem.
The team won the high score robot award and the Champions award at the Crusaders tournament in December. That win qualified them to compete in the regional iSPACE tournament where the team won the innovative solution trophy. Placing in the top quarter qualified the team to advance to the state tournament.
The season began with 387 teams in the state of Ohio, only 36 of those teams are still in competition going into the Ohio tournament.
