Standards Guides for Families
To make parents aware of what students need to know and be able to do at each grade level, the Ohio Department of Education has provided condensed guides of standards for students in grades K-8. Each guide outlines the academic content standards and gives examples of indicators for that specific grade.
Revised Academic Content Standards
In June 2010, the State Board of Education adopted new standards for English/Language Arts, math, science, and social studies. Specifically, the Board adopted the Common Core State Standards for English/LA and math, and state-developed standards for science and social studies. Literacy Framework, K-6
The Loveland Schools’ Literacy Framework establishes what we want our literacy program to be in grades K-6. The Framework is designed to improve the reading, writing, and language skills of elementary students in Loveland Schools. The cornerstone of this fluid document is to establish a common and consistent approach to literacy learning that is aligned vertically and horizontally among grade levels. The goal of this comprehensive effort is to significantly raise the level of literacy achievement of all students. Click here to read the Literacy Framework.
Literacy by Design
Loveland School District is implementing a new core reading program in grades K-4 in the 2010-11 school year. Literacy by Design was chosen because it embodies our Literacy Framework and provides important developmental instruction for all students. Literacy by Design provides instruction across whole class, small group, and independent reading and has a focus on comprehension. Click here for an overview of Literacy by Design.
Investigations Math Program
Loveland Schools is in its fifth year of implementing an innovative math program for students in grades K-5.
